Did you know that you can really drill down with your Facebook advertising? Facebook recently rolled out some new advertising options. Some of the more interesting options you can choose are people who…
- are away from family
- are away from hometown
- have recently moved
- are having a birthday during the next week.
- got engaged less than 6 months ago
- are newlyweds less than 6 months ago
- are Auto Intenders – planning to buy a car
- are expecting a baby
- are parents with childen of different age groups
You can also target geographically. For example, you can say:
I want to market to people who have gotten engaged less than 6 months ago who live in Peoria, Illinois.
This is powerful information for both online and traditional marketers.
If you are concerned about Facebook having this sort of data, just remember that each user provides this data to Facebook. If you don’t want this provided to advertisers, you should not put it on Facebook. However, you should know that Facebook advertisers do not see that the information is connected to you personally. It just allows businesses to advertise to people who meet certain criteria.
