As crazy as it might sound, you can detox your body and lose a few pounds by going on a “Potato Feast” where you eat nothing but potatoes for several days. I recommend a minimum of three days to a maximum of fourteen. I wouldn’t do more than fourteen without a doctor’s supervision.
I’ve lost 6.4 pound in just four days. This is amazing. Much less expensive and time consuming than juicing. I’ve had great energy, been sleeping well, have not been hungry and have felt great. This is what I’ve done:
A monodiet* of potatoes only
Eat any type of potatoes – russet, Idaho, sweet, purple, petite red, fingerlings
Yams and taro roots are not allowed (yams are different from sweet potatoes)
Eat the skin – very important
Best preparation – boil or eat raw
Other methods – microwave, baking, slow cooking or roasting are okay
No frying, but sautee with water is okay
No oil or butter for preparation
No seasoning – salt, pepper, nothing (after 3 days, okay to add black pepper)
Eat as many as you want
Eat as often as you want
Drink lots of water – minimum 64 ounces (water with lemon is fine)
Coffee is allowed – limit to 2 cups per day (non-dairy milk, 1 maple syrup)
Herbal Tea – caffeinated or decaf (nondairy milk)
No soft drinks
No or very light exercise – walking, yoga, pilates
Get a lot of sleep (7-9 hours per night)
For best results, do not consume any other type of food, not a single bite
*This “mono diet” fasting is said to be able to achieve similar benefits if you use another type of starchy food such as corn, beans, rice, or quinoa. I have not personally experienced this nor do I know anyone who has.
